If you already have an existing aquarium light fixture (or canopy retrofit system) and want to add some additional color enhancement – LED’s could very well be the way to go. The specific wavelengths LED’s produce definitely will make the colors “pop” in your fish and corals, they also produce the beautiful ripple & shimmer effects commonly found in higher output lighting (like metal halides/HID’s.)
Our Stunner LED strips are perfect for smaller aquariums lit with linear fluorescent, high output T5 fluorescent (T5HO) or compact fluorescent (PC). The include 3 easy mounting options for attaching them to any existing light or canopy – 3M strong tape, screw mount and mounting clips. You can even snap on a reflector to really focus the light. Stunner LED strips work quite well with most PC systems and T5HO systems with 2-4 lamps.
If your existing lighting system consists of a lot of light – the Panorama Modules will be a better fit for you. We recommend using Panorama Modules for hobbyists using T5HO systems with 4-10 lamps or for existing metal halide systems. The Panorama Modules provide a bit more “punch” over our Stunner LED strips in terms of penetration, and the 453nm blue modules are very popular for color enhancement in reef aquariums.
If your on the fence regarding LED’s, hybridizing your existing aquarium lighting system is a great way to get your feet wet. Modular LED’s like the Stunner LED strips and Panorama Modules give you the flexibility to start out small and add/expand as you like.
This reef aquarium is using two T5HO lamps and our Panorama LED modules – thanks for the photo DJ!
