How do I get a more blue look to my tank (14,000K)?

One of the advantages of the Panorama modular design is the flexibility to change or customize color spectrums. The Panorama includes one, 453nm Stunner that produces a brilliant blue spectrum of light both during the day and at night. You can install up to six Stunner strips to create almost any blue spectrum you like. For an even more dramatic effect, you can also upgrade the Panorama Fixture with our 453nm Actinic Panorama Modules. You can fit up to 2 additional Panorama Modules in the 17.5” fixture and up to 4 additional modules in the 23.5” fixture.

How are LEDs different from other lighting options?

LED’s or Light Emitting Diodes are a source of light that uses semiconductor material. They differ from traditional light in that they do not have a filament that can burn out. They require much less electricity to operate and produce very little heat.

How do I maximize the shimmer effect in my aquarium using LED’s?

LED’s will produce fantastic shimmering on their own, but to increase the effect you can also agitate the surface of the water by redirecting water flow.

How long should I light my aquarium each day?

Generally you will want to run your lighting 8-10 hours a day.

How long will the LED’s in my light last?

Typically, LED’s are rated for 50,000+ hours of operation.

Which LED light can be used for a Refugium?

The Panorama Module and the Stunner both work well for Refugiums.

What corals can I grow wIth the Panorama Fixture?

The Panorama Fixture provides light that is appropriate for many types of animals. And because they have places they like to live and places they don’t, we’ve developed a Coral Planning Map to help guide you in the successful placement of your corals for optimal growth and health.

Will I need a cover or screen over my tank with the Panorama Fixture? Will it keep fish from jumping out of the tank?

You should always use a cover over your tank. Not only will it prevent escaping fish, but it will also keep incidental splashing from reaching your Panorama Fixture providing a safe operating environment.

Why does the Panorama Fixture turn off when I open the top cover?

It is very important that you always unplug your fixture before accessing the transformers. The Panorama Fixture is equipped with a back up safety feature – auto power shut off. A micro switch shuts the power down if you remove the lid and you’ve forgotten to unplug the power. Even though the micro switch has the power shut off to the fixture, you should still IMMEDIATELY. Always unplug your fixture BEFORE you begin any maintenance or servicing.

If I use the Panorama Fixture for my lighting will I still need a chiller?

The Panorama Fixture is designed to transfer little or no heat into the aquarium. The use of a chiller is only necessary if the ambient temperature is causing your water temperature to rise.

Does the Panorama Fixture require a cooling fan?

No, each LED Module has it’s own heat sink, this combined with a unique convection cooled design provides all the necessary cooling.

How warm does the Panorama Fixture get?

Under standard operating conditions, the fixture is only warm to the touch, not enough to transfer heat into your aquarium.

What maintenance is required on my Panorama Fixture?

All inspections and maintenance should be performed with the unit unplugged. We recommend weekly inspection and wipe down of your Panorama Fixture and Modules. Use the included EcoCham to wipe away any visible signs of salt creep from the outer surfaces of the fixture.

Why does the Panorama not require a cooling fan?

LED’s are an extremely efficient form of light. Nearly all of the energy consumed is converted to light, not heat. The Panorama’s Patent Pending floating design, coupled with super-efficient heat sinks, removes what little heat is generated.

Will the Panorama Fixture transfer heat into my aquarium?

No. The Panorama Fixture is designed to transfer little or no heat into the aquarium. The use of a chiller will only be necessary if the ambient temperature is causing your water temperature to rise.

How much electricity does the Panorama Fixture consume?

Can I use the Panorama Fixture in canopy?

No. The Panorama fixture is NOT designed for canopy installation. The Panorama Module and the Stunner are designed to incorporate into your canopy. (link to respective Product Pages)

Is a hanging kit available for the Panorama Fixture?

No. However we will be offering a hanging kit for the Panorama in May 2010.

Can the Panorama Fixture be placed directly on top of an aquarium?

No. The Panorama is designed to be used with the Stand Mount only. It is not recommend for direct placement on the the aquarium. The fixture is completely silent as a result of convection cooling. Placing the fixture directly on the aquarium will reduce the convection cooling feature and increase the risk of damage due to exposure to water.

Can I use the Panorama over an open top aquarium?

The Panorama is the safest lighting on the market, but the safest option for you and your animals is to always keep your aquarium covered.

Do I need to use the Wall mount or Stand Mount with my Panorama?

Currently the provided Wall mount kit and Stand Mount is the only recommended mounting option for the Panorama Fixture. This is integral part of the product and will ensure safe and proper performance.

Will the Panorama Fixture grow hard coral or SPS coral?

Absolutely. The Panorama Fixture provides light that is appropriate for many types of animals. And because they have places they like to live and places they don’t, we’ve developed a Coral Planning Map to help guide you in the successful placement of your corals for optimal growth and health.

What other LED’s can I use with my Panorama Fixture?

Stunner Strips, available in a variety of color temperatures, offer a great enhancement to dial up shimmering or to add moonlighting. Why does the Panorama Fixture not use docking mounts?

Three deliberate reasons – 1) the convection-cooled design requires the fixture to be suspended (which has the added benefit that the fixture is absolutely silent). 2) The Stand Mount is designed to make access to the aquarium a breeze. No more lugging your aquarium fixture off the tank each time access is required. 3) the suspended design reduces damage caused by splashing and salt creep.

Why is the Panorama not available in longer lengths (ie. 48, 72″)

The Panorama is designed in two basic sizes that can be installed individually or in multiples. This allows you to get the perfect fit for virtually any size aquarium. How high off the aquarium should I adjust the Panorama Fixture?

Can the Panorama Fixture be used for Saltwater Fish Aquariums?

Absolutely. The Panorama Fixture is an excellent lighting fixture for fish, fish with live rock (FOWLR) and full marine reef aquariums. The LED’s will make your fish look vibrant and colorful and provide enough light for most invertebrates and corals. It provides light that is appropriate for many types of animals. And because they have places they like to live and places they don’t, we’ve developed a Coral Planning Map to help guide you in the successful placement of your corals for optimal growth and health.

Can the Panorama Fixture be used for Planted Aquariums?

Yes. The Panorama Fixture is ideal for all forms of freshwater themed aquariums. The modular design also allows you to utilize smaller modules over larger tanks. Can the Panorama LED Fixture be used on freshwater aquariums?

Yes. The Panorama Fixture provides a life-like shimmer effect ideal for freshwater aquariums.

Can I change the color of the screens on the top of my Panorama LED?

Yes. The perforated vents are removable and can easily be painted.

Do I need to use the GFCI cord provided with my Panorama?

Yes. Use of your fixture, or any electrical aquarium accessory, without a GFCI is dangerous. An approved GFCI cord is provided with every Panorama Fixture.

Can I connect my Panorama Fixture to a dimmer or controller?

Due to the nature of dimmers and aquarium controllers on the market, we cannot guarantee compatibility, however the LED drivers we use in the Panorama fixture are dimmable. We also recommend using a 24-hour timer for dawn/dusk controlling.

How do I control the dawn/dusk effect on my Panorama Fixture?

A 453nm, blue, Stunner has been included with each fixture. It has it’s own switch and power source allowing for a dawn dusk simulation. This is also handy for those who choose to operate a timer with their unit.

If I run a fan next to the Panorama Fixture, will it increase the bulb life?

The Panorama has been designed to operate without a fan. It does not need additional sources of cooling.

Can I suspend the Panorama Fixture from my existing wire hanging kit?

At this time, the Panorama is designed to be installed only with the included Stand Mount.

Can I add more Stunner LED Strips to my Panorama Fixture?

Yes. Your Panorama Fixture comes equipped with one Stunner Strip pre-installed. You can add more Stunner Strips to customize the color and shimmer for your tank. Visit the Stunner product page for more details.

When will you be introducing a way to mount the Panorama in a canopy?

The Panorama Module is the best option for mounting powerful LED’s in a canopy. At this time this the best and only option for canopy installs. You may also accent the Panorama Module with Stunner Strips available in a variety of color temperatures.

How do I select the right Panorama Fixture for my custom aquarium?

Is the Panorama Module Waterproof?

Extremely water resistant, but not waterproof, never submerge the unit or purposely expose it to direct water contact.

Does the Panorama Module require a cooling fan?

Under most circumstances, the Panorama Module requires no cooling fan due to the heat sink and convection cooling. Using multiple Panorama Modules may require additional fan cooling if they are reaching temperatures above 55°C. They are equipped with thermal switches which will turn the units off if they are getting too hot.

What maintenance is required on my Panorama Module?

No. The Panorama Module is not linkable, but our Stunner strip lights are linkable and available in a variety of color temperatures.

Will the Panorama Module grow hard coral or SPS coral?

Absolutely. Depending upon the depth of your aquarium and the number of modules used, the Panorama Module provides light that is appropriate for many types of animals. Can I add Panorama Modules to my Panorama Fixture?

We know many people like to upgrade, and yes, you can add additional Panorama Modules in the fixture. If you’d like to dial up the shimmer, add some blue, or UV, we’ve given you plenty of room to customize to your hearts’ content. You might also want to check out the Stunner Strip for a variety of other color temperature options.

Can I use the Panorama Module in a canopy?

Yes, the Panorama Module is designed for canopy installation. In order to maintain maximum light output and life expectancy, additional fan cooling is strongly advised.

You can add up to 9 Stunner LED strips in the 17.5″ Panorama and up to 15 Stunner LED strips in the 23.5″ Panorama fixture. Remember, you can only link 6 Stunner LED strips off of a single 24V transformer.

What maintenance is required on my Stunner LEDs?

Aquarium Lighting maintenance should always include a once per week inspection for salt creep or corrosion. Wiping the Stunner down with a cloth regularly will ensure maximum life expectancy and performance.

Can I leave my Stunner on all the time?

Yes. You can leave the Stunner on all of the time. They have an incredible 50,000-hour life expectancy.

Will the tape on my Stunner LED stick to wood?

The Stunner comes with a very durable 3M tape. It will stick to many surfaces including wood. You may also use the supplied screws to secure it more firmly.

Can the Stunner be used for saltwater fish aquariums?

Yes. With the Stunner you can add a touch of blue, or UV. Plus, you’ll get that shimmer effect you’ve been looking for.

How many Stunners can I link together?

You may operate up to 6 Stunner Strips with a single 24V power supply.

Can I mount the Stunner LED inside a light fixture?

Yes, you can add the Stunner to the inside of an existing light fixture, but great care should be taken to ensure it is not near metal lamps or any other device that is above 50° C.

Can I use the Stunner LED Strips in a canopy?

Yes, the Stunner is designed for canopy installation. In order to maintain maximum light output and life expectancy, additional fan cooling is strongly advised.

Can the Stunner LED Strip be placed directly on an aquarium?

The Stunner is designed to be mounted to a canopy. Although it is waterproof, it is not intended to be placed directly on the top of an aquarium.

Will the Stunner grow hard coral or SPS coral?

Depending on configuration and the number of Stunners used, the Stunner can support a wide variety of animal life. However, we recommend using the Stunner LED for accenting the colors of coral and using it to supplement other lights.

Can the Stunner be used for planted aquariums?

Absolutely. The 8000K version will be the best for plants.

Why does the 403nm UV Stunner make my water look cloudy?

The 403nm wavelength tends to pick up very small suspended solids (even chemicals in the water.) The Stunner is not malfunctioning, its simply showing the minute suspended solids in the water column.

What is a GFCI and why did it come with my fixture.

A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is a type of electrical outlet that monitors for a current imbalance between the hot and neutral wires and breaks the circuit if that condition occurs like, for example, if the socket gets wet. You should NEVER operate a piece of electric aquarium equipment without a GFCI.

What is the purpose of the blue chamois included with my Panorama LED fixture?

The EcoCham is great for weekly maintenance of your Panorama Fixture as well as general aquarium clean up.
